Movies Irrfan Khan Could Have Been Part Of.

Regarded as one of the finest actors of the Bollywood industry, the actor Irrfan Khan has been the first actor to be a part of two academy award-winning films namely, Life of Pi in 2012 and Slumdog Millionaire in 2008. Born as Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan, the actor has not only proved his brilliance in the Bollywood industry but has been noted for his performances in the Hollywood industry as well. With being an active part of the industry and playing a role in award-winning films like Hindi Medium, Paan Singh Tomar, The Lunchbox, etc.

Irrfan has emerged as one of the established actors of the Bollywood industry. While the actor could have reached farther and made it big in the industry, the actor left us all with a broken heart with his demise due to a colon infection. This came as a shocker for the audiences and the golden era ended in Bollywood. While we all agree with the fact that the Bollywood perfectionist Aamir Khan did full justification to the character of Mahavir Singh Phogat and made us all deeply connected to the character. But, Have you ever imagined what would be the level of the film if the actor Irrfan Khan would have roped in for this role? Being an interesting story in itself, after completing the writing part for the film over nine months, the makers ideally wanted to cast the best method actor to play the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat. With depicting the character transforming majorly over the leap period in the film, the makers found the actor Irrfan Khan best fit for the role. However, despite being strong on their decision there are rumors that the script was never reached to Irrfan Khan and the makers pitched in the actor Aamir Khan for the role.


ith having the lead character played by Akshay Kumar, this film was initially imagined for the actor Irrfan Khan. And while this film was highly appreciated by the fans and the actor was praised for his performance, it’s quite surprising to note that Irrfan Khan was rather the first choice for the role. Directed by Raja Menon, this film became a blockbuster at the box office and according to the rumors, despite being planned to rope Irrfan Khan as the lead it was the actor Akshay Kumar who was highly eager to take up this role and expressed the same to Nikhil Advani and convinced him to ask the makers about the idea of having Akshay playing the lead. While this film would certainly have reached more heights if Irrfan would have been roped in as a lead, the Bollywood Khiladi Akshay Kumar was also loved for the role.

Sardar Udham

Already gaining prominence among the audiences, this film has become one of the hot topics in recent times. Being based on the revolutionary freedom fighter who seeks revenge for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the drenching story of the film would be worth a watch. The one thing about this film that remains unknown to many is the fact about the first choice of its maker Shoojit Sircar for the lead character. The maker was highly enthusiastic about casting the actor Irrfan Khan as the lead actor for the film however, following the bad health of the actor, he had to step back from playing the role of Udham Singh. And now, replaced by the actor Vicky Kaushal, the actor says it’s an honor to replace Irrfan Khan and this role will be a tribute to both the freedom fighter and the actor Irrfan Khan.


With Chulbul Pandey being one of the most loved characters from the Dabangg film series, it’s quite surprising to note that the actor Salman Khan was not the first choice to play this part. Despite being a work of his brother Arbaaz Khan, the sources have revealed that the film was initially offered to actors like Irrfan Khan and Randeep Hooda. With its director Abhinav Kashyap thinking about offering the role to either Randeep or Irfan, it was Arbaaz who approached the director and agreed to produce the movie and dropped upon him the idea of casting Salman Khan in the quirky role of Chulbul Pandey. Having liked the idea Abhinav immediately agreed to the same and the things finally fell into place.

Once upon a time in Mumbai

After the tremendous success of its first installment, the makers even came up with the second installment of the film which became equally successful. While the role of lead character Haji Mastan was initially offered to the actor Sanjay Dutt, on the other hand, it’s astounding to know that before the actor Randeep Hooda, Irrfan Khan was roped in to play the character of ACP Agnel Wilson. However, due to some unknown reasons, the actor could not sign the film and the role eventually went to the actor Randeep Hooda.


There was a time when the established actors like Manoj Bajpai and Irrfan Khan competed for grabbing a role in Ram Gopal Varma film, Daud where they were offered rupees 35,000 to play the role. Running after playing the sidekick to Paresh Rawal in the film, it was Irfan Khan who was also auditioned for the role. And apart from him the other actor, Vineet Kumar was also auditioned for the same role. However, after being highly impressed with Manoj Bajpai playing the role in the film, Bandit Queen, Ram Gopal Varma finalized Manoj Bajpai not only for playing a supporting role in this film but also cast him for his next project, Satya as the main lead.
